There are variety of times "WHEN" Christian 12 Step Groups can begin and meet.  It has been suggested by experienced Walking the 12 Steps with Jesus Christ facilitators that the program should be initiated after much prayer and after the prompting of the Holy Spirit that a group needs to be organized.

 After the spirtual affirmation is confirmed that a group needs to be formed, then at least two individuals should be identified who are willing to take on the responsibilities of organizing, advertising and facilitating the sessions.  The rationale for this is that the preparation for beginning a Walking the 12 Steps with Jesus Christ must be orderly to ensure a successful beginning.  We are told in the bible to "count the cost" before we start any project because we don't want anything done in Christ's name to fail.  So, preparation and cooperation ensures things will be done right.

Finally, the individiual group sessions are normally scheduled weekly in 1 l/2 hour sessions (usually with no class time breaks.)  Two hour sessions usually require a break for participants and extends the in class time unnecessarily.  Although there are twelve steps, the total number of sessions depends on your particular situation.  Some groups must stay with a 12 week schedule while others may extend to 16 sessions.  You have the option of deciding how many weeks best accomplish your purposes. 

We recognize that each group is unique in its membership and needs.  Therefore, there is a flexibility built into the program to assist in meeting all these differing circumstances.  "When" to meet will become obvious once the Holy Spirit gives you the "go ahead."
